in this specific video you’re going to learn how to add a facebook like box to the sidebar of your WordPress site now the reason why you want to put a facebook lightbox into your WordPress site is simply because you can use this as a means for social proof you’re using social media combined with the power of Facebook to create a community now somebody goes to your website they see your content they like your content they begin to like you and in addition to that they look at your lightbox they might see their friends are part of your Facebook fan page so they have no problem joining your Facebook fan page as well and whether you are trying to brand yourself your company or your product using a Facebook lightbox will help you do just that you’re creating a community which people want to be part of that community and you can create the community which helps you create a high stick rate now in order to implement this on to wordpress site the first thing that you’re going to need is to create a facebook page so simply hop on over to facebook login to your facebook account and at the very top you’re going to see a search bar all you need to do is simply enter create page and you’re going to see a button that says create new facebook page click on that link and you’re going to see six different boxes and you really need to think this through you need to think what are you trying to achieve are you trying to brand yourself are you trying to bring in your company institution your local business or a specific product once you know what you’re trying to achieve and what you under brand go ahead and create that page once you’re done with that simply hop on over to Google and we’re going to begin to create that like box the easiest way to find the Facebook like box is to go to google.com and type in facebook like box click on enter and click the link at the top here that says like box dash facebook developers and at this point you can begin the process of customizing your facebook like box so we’re at step two of the processed now the beauty of this is you can see everything that happens you enter your facebook URL and you’re going to enter the width of the actual box in this case i’m going to make it 250 pixels and what i like about this as i said earlier is when you change the settings the actual box changes according to your settings so you can see everything that happens and once you’re satisfied with everything you can copy that over to your wordpress site i’m going to leave the height blank the color scheme is going to be left at the default you can remove faces if you want to but i’d highly recommend that you leave them simply because you’re trying to create that community border color I’m going to leave that blank show stream is what that means is you’re going to show whatever you’re putting on your Facebook page is going to show up here in this case I’m going to not show the string and i’m not going to show the header and the header is this right here once you have customized the facebook like box and you are satisfied and ready to go simply click on get code now you’re going to see four different options here you’re going to see html5 you’re also going to see x f BM l iframes and URL in this case I’m going to use the iframe since that seems to be what works you’re going to simply click here and copy this code over copy it to a safe place and then I’m going to hop on over to the WordPress dashboard and we’re going to go under the appearance section and go to the widgets section and what we’re trying to do is basically create a widget and put it into the main sidebar in this case we’re going to be using the text widget because the text widget allows you to enter HTML code so simply drag the text widget to the main sidebar and at this point you can enter the code here the iframe code click on save and once you’re done this code should display on your WordPress site so let’s go ahead and go to the live site and see what it looks like and as you can see I’ve used the default facebook platform page and I can see two of my friends listed here so this is social proof I’ve gone to a website I see that two of my friends are part of this page that gives me an incentive that okay so and so is on this page why not I join as well so you’re adding on to your community you’re growing your community and so forth simply by adding this facebook like box to your page and that’s it
